“The Odyssey” has notched another record on its epic box office voyage.

Christopher Nolan‘s blockbuster “The Odyssey” is officially the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time with $1.352 billion worldwide, overtaking the benchmark set by 2024’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” with $1.338 billion.

“The Odyssey” landed in theaters on July 17, collecting a mighty $123 million in its domestic debut, and has remained a big-screen sensation. Since then, the big-budget adaptation of Homer’s epic poem has generated $516 million domestically and $835 million internationally — a massive tally for any movie, but especially an R-rated sword-and-sandal adventure that’s nearly three hours long. Much of the fanfare for “The Odyssey” has revolved around Imax, which has racked up $354 million in revenue. It’s the fifth release this year and third R-rated movie ever (joining the company of “Joker”) to surpass $1 billion in revenue.
